  8. Don't be fooled by the stuffy  sounding name:   OAS is for YOU,  the modem user
  9. of the Atlanta metropolitan area!
  10.  
  11. The   OAS   is   a   three   year   old organization (formed in October,  1984)
  12. of  sysops,  modem users and others  in Atlanta's  online community,  dedicated
  13. to   mutual  self-protection  and   the general  furtherance of  public  domain
  14. software and BBS'ing as a hobby.
  15.  
  16. The group meets monthly,  on the  first Wednesday  of the month,  at 7:30  p.m.
  17. Meetings  are open to the  public,  and feature   a   variety  of   interesting
  18. computer-related programming,  as  well as  a prime opportunity to meet  others
  19. involved in BBS's in Atlanta.  Call The OASis  BBS,  listed below,  for  latest
  20. meeting  information.   We also have  a variety of giveaways, raffles and other
  21. exciting  special events:  during 1987, over  $10,000.00  worth  of   software,
  22. hardware  and services have been  given away  at  OAS meetings.  We  also  have
  23. other  members-only  meetings at  other times during the month, to conduct club
  24. business.

  26. The   group   publishes  a   bi-monthly newsletter,  The OASis,  that  features
  27. news  and information of vital interest to  BBS users and  operators.  We  also
  28. have  several other publishing projects in the works.

  30. OAS  also  sponsors  an  annual  summer blood  drive/party called  the  M*A*S*H
  31. Bash.  The first annual one,  held last June,  collected over 45 pints of blood
  32. for  the Red Cross,  helping meet their critical summer blood needs.

  34. You  can join OAS for $20.00 per  year. This  gets  you a subscription  to  the
  35. newsletter,  participation in giveaways and  other  special  events,  and  much
  36. more.  You can join at any OAS meeting, or send a check (payable to OAS) to our
  37. mailing   address,   with  your   name, address and phone number(s) and info on
  38. your BBS if you run one.
